The Game On pack

The field, broadly defined

Game On is not just football. It covers Olympic disciplines, the great honour rolls and the rules everyone thinks they know.

• Olympic disciplines and team sports.
• Clubs, national squads and rivalries.
• Competitions: leagues, cups, tournaments.
• Basic rules and the vocabulary of each sport.

The 36 sports of Paris 2024

The question “Name a sport on the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic programme.” accepts 36 answers. It is one of the best stocked in the pack, and one of the most revealing.

Athletics, swimming and football are three starting points. You can also think of racket sports or combat sports.

Check the edition named in the question: a sport featured at a different Olympics may not fit this one.

Points follow tiers chosen by the game’s editors. They do not measure how many players gave the same answer.

The most profitable sport is not the most watched

On this theme the temptation is to name the sport with the most airtime. That is exactly the wrong reflex.

Think of combat sports, racket sports and outdoor sports too. Check that they fit the edition or category named in the question.

The pack holds 125 games of 7 questions. The 25 second clock is short on purpose: it stops you running through a whole list and puts whatever comes to mind back in play.

Think of individual sports as well as team sports. A less obvious Olympic discipline can earn more points if it fits the question.
