What KRILLION is, and what it is not

KRILLION is a free guessing game played in the browser, at krillion.to, in English and French.

• It is a knowledge game where you type your answer, not a multiple-choice quiz.
• It is not a word game and there is no hidden word to find.
• There is nothing to install: it runs in a tab, on desktop and on phones.
• The game is published independently at krillion.to and is not affiliated with any other site using a similar name.

The rules in one minute

A game of KRILLION has 7 questions. Each question asks for a name or title in a category, such as a country or a film in a series. You give one answer.

• The question is shown for 3 seconds before you can type.
• You then have 25 seconds to type an answer.
• Type a recognized answer that fits the question. There is no multiple choice.
• The rarer your answer, the more points it is worth.
• The maximum total for one game is 700 points.

Why rare answers score more

Every recognized answer sits in one of 6 rarity tiers. The tier decides the points, and therefore the depth you reach.

The game’s editors assign tiers based on how familiar they expect an answer to be. Tiers are not measured percentages of player answers. Aim for a less obvious answer while staying within the question.

How depth is calculated

Each point is worth 10 metres. A perfect score of 700 points takes Krill, your deep-sea guide, to 7,000 metres.

Depth is not a separate rating: it is the score, expressed in the unit the game uses. It is the number players compare and share at the end of a run.

Play solo or with friends

KRILLION has the Daily Dive, numbered games, themed packs, and Battle for playing trivia with friends.

• The Daily Dive is the same for everyone and changes every day. It is derived from the date, so two people playing on the same day see the same questions.
• Battle brings 2 to 50 friends into a private room. Everyone signs in to a free account and joins the same room code to answer the same questions live.
• Numbered games can be played in any order: 824 free games are available.
• The 4 free packs group questions by theme: pop culture, movies and TV, sport, geography. Any paid access opens 4 more, taking the game to 8 packs and 1246 games.

• Monthly, it costs $3.50 a month, with no free trial and no commitment.
• For anyone who does not want a subscription, a one-off purchase of $29.90 opens exactly the same thing.
• Accounts that had already bought lifetime access keep it, with nothing more to pay and nothing to cancel.
