What KRILLION is, and what it is not

KRILLION is a free guessing game played in the browser, at krillion.to, in French and English.

• It is a knowledge game where you type your answer, not a multiple-choice quiz.
• It is not a word game and there is no hidden word to find.
• There is nothing to install: it runs in a tab, on desktop and on phones.
• The game is published independently at krillion.to and is not affiliated with any other site using a similar name.

The rules in one minute

A game of KRILLION has 7 questions. Each one names a closed set of correct answers, for example "name one of the 195 countries in the world", and you give a single answer.

• The question is shown for 3 seconds before you can type.
• You then have 25 seconds to type an answer.
• Any factually valid answer counts. There is no multiple choice.
• The rarer your answer, the more points it is worth.
• The maximum total for one game is 700 points.

Why rare answers score more

Every valid answer sits in one of 6 rarity tiers. The tier decides the points, and therefore the depth you reach.

Answers that everyone gives stay near the surface. Answers that are correct but rarely named go far deeper. There is a classic trap too: the answer that feels clever is often the one the rest of the school thought of, and it pays very little.

How depth is calculated

Each point is worth 10 metres. A perfect score of 700 points takes Pip, the exploration drone, to 7,000 metres.

Depth is not a separate rating: it is the score, expressed in the unit the game uses. It is the number players compare and share at the end of a run.

Three ways to play

KRILLION has the Daily Dive, numbered games, and themed packs.

• The Daily Dive is the same for everyone and changes every day. It is derived from the date, so two people playing on the same day see the same questions.
• Numbered games can be played in any order: 380 games are available in total.
• The 4 packs group questions by theme: pop culture, movies and TV, sport, geography.

KRILLION is free to play: 5 games a day, no subscription. Removing the daily limit is a one-off payment of 3.50 EUR.
