About KRILLION

KRILLION is a guessing game that rewards correct answers few people give. This page explains how it works and how it stays up.

The idea

Most quizzes ask for the right answer. KRILLION asks for one of several, then looks at which one you picked.

A question names a closed, checkable set: the countries of a continent, the films in a saga, the clubs in a league. Every answer in that set counts. But the one everyone gives scores little, and the one almost nobody thinks of scores a lot.

The score reads as metres of depth. Staying near the surface means answering correctly without surprising anyone. Going deep means finding what the others forgot.

How a game runs

The clock is short on purpose. It stops you running through the whole list in your head and puts whatever comes to mind first back into play.

  • Seven rounds per game.
  • Twenty-five seconds per round to type an answer.
  • One answer counts per round.
  • Each point is worth ten metres, up to seven thousand metres.
  • An answer outside the set, or no answer in time, scores zero and the next round starts.

The six rarity tiers

Every valid answer falls into a tier, based on how many people usually give it. The tier sets the points.

Rarity tiers and the points they award.
TierPointsWhat it rewards
Plankton10The answer nearly everyone gives first
Too Clever15Correct, but exactly what a seasoned player would reach for
Schooler30A solid answer, known without being automatic
Rare60An answer few players think to type
Deep Cut85A sharp answer, for people who know the subject
Krillion100The bottom of the set, what almost nobody recovers

The modes

Numbered games stay available permanently, so you can pick a series back up where you left it instead of depending on the calendar.

  • The Daily Dive: one game, the same for everyone, renewed each day.
  • Endless Pop: sixty numbered games of video games, music, heroes, animation and pop phenomena.
  • Movies and TV: thirty games of iconic lines, characters, franchises and hit shows.
  • Game On: thirty games of stars, clubs, rules and competitions.
  • Around the World: thirty games of capitals, landmarks, travel and food.

Where the questions come from

Every question rests on a closed set of facts, written by hand and then checked. An answer counts only if it genuinely belongs to that set, and the input tolerates typos, missing accents and common name variants.

Tier ranking reflects how well known each answer actually is, not how clever it is. A famous answer is not a wrong answer: it simply scores less.

Content errors can be reported to the contact address. A corrected question does not undo games already played.

French and English

The game exists fully in French and English, interface and questions alike. The language switches at any time from the site's selector, and the choice is remembered for later visits.

How the game is funded

KRILLION is free to play. One game a day without an account, five a day with a free account.

To play without limits, lifetime access costs 3.50 EUR, paid once. There is no subscription, no renewal and nothing to cancel.

The site is also preparing to display advertising, which is not active yet.

There is no purchase inside a game, no paid bonus and no score advantage for sale. Paying removes the daily limit, and nothing else.
