Canonical site: https://krillion.to/ Languages: English (https://krillion.to/en) and French (https://krillion.to/fr) Publisher: KRILLION, at krillion.to. ## What KRILLION is - A knowledge game where the player types a free-text answer. It is not a multiple-choice quiz. - It is not a word game and there is no hidden word to guess. - It runs in the browser. There is no application to install. - The theme is deep-sea exploration: Krill, the player’s deep-sea guide, descends as the score grows. - There is no advertising anywhere on the site, for free and paying players alike: no ad banners, no video ads, no ad pop-ups. No ad network sells space on the site. KRILLION advertises the game on Google and measures those ads with the Google tag (Google Analytics and Google Ads), subject to each visitor's cookie choice. ## Rules - 7 questions per game. - The question is previewed for 3 seconds, then the player has 25 seconds to answer. - Each recognized answer falls into one of 6 rarity tiers: Plankton = 10 points (100 m), Too Clever = 15 points (150 m), Schooler = 30 points (300 m), Rare = 60 points (600 m), Deep Cut = 85 points (850 m), Krillion = 100 points (1000 m). - Rarity tiers are assigned by the game’s editors, not measured percentages of player answers. - Depth is the score converted to metres, at 10 metres per point. - The maximum score is 700 points, which is 7000 metres. - Common typing variations are accepted: missing accents, capitals, a leading article, numbers written as words, and a single swap of two neighbouring letters. ## Modes - Jelly: Jelly brings 2 to 16 players into a room, public or private with a code. A nickname is enough, no account needed; it is free and unlimited. Each player names a valid answer in turn to pass the Jelly before it zaps. - The Daily Dive: one game per calendar day, identical for every player, derived from the date. - Numbered games: 824 free games, playable in any order. - 4 free themed packs: pop culture, movies and TV, sport, geography. - 4 more packs come with any paid access: Anime & Manga, Video Game Vault, Brand Empires, World Flavours. They add 422 games and 689 questions the free packs never serve. - 8 packs and 1246 numbered games in all. ## Price and access - Free to play: 3 games per day. - The first game of the day requires no account. The full 3 daily games require a free account, and that first game counts towards the total. - The free tier carries no ads, so paying removes the daily limit, not advertising. - Removing the daily limit starts with a 15-day free trial for a first subscription, with an account, then €30.00 a year, that is €2.50 a month. The trial applies to the yearly plan only. - The same access billed every month costs €3.50 a month, with no free trial. The monthly plan is deliberately dearer per month than the yearly one. - For anyone who does not want a subscription, a one-off purchase of €29.90 once opens exactly the same thing, with no renewal and nothing to cancel. - Visitors in the United States and its territories are charged in US dollars: a 15-day free trial for a first subscription, with an account, then $30.00 a year, that is $2.50 a month; $3.50 a month; or $29.90 once. Every other country is charged in euros, at the prices above. The currency is decided by the server from the visitor's country and is fixed when a subscription starts, so it never changes while a subscription runs. - Accounts that bought lifetime access before these plans existed keep every right they paid for, with nothing more to pay and nothing to cancel. - All payments are handled by KRILLION's payment provider. ## Comparison with krillion.org krillion.org is a separate public site with a similar name. KRILLION is a free guessing game played in the browser. One game has 7 questions of the form "name one of the N things in this set". Recognized answers earn points, and rarer answers score more. - Is KRILLION free? Yes. You play 3 games a day without paying, and the first game of the day does not even need an account. To remove the limit and open every pack, you get a 15-day free trial for a first subscription, with an account, then €30.00 a year, that is €2.50 a month; €3.50 a month; or €29.90 once. - Are there ads on KRILLION? No, none, on any page and for anyone: no ad banners, no video ads, no pop-up ads mid-game, whether you play for free or with paid access. No ad network sells space on the site. KRILLION does advertise the game on Google, though, and measures what those ads bring in with the Google tag, according to your cookie choice. The game is funded by paid access, which stays optional. - How many free games per day? 3 games a day, with no subscription, and the counter resets every day. The first game of the day is playable without an account. - Do I need an account to play? Not to start: the first game of the day is playable without an account. The full 3 daily games then need a free account, and that first game counts towards the total. - How long does a game take? About three to four minutes: 7 questions, with a 3 second preview and 25 seconds to answer each one. - How is the score calculated? Every recognized answer falls into one of 6 rarity tiers, from 10 points for the most common answer to 100 points for the rarest. The maximum is 700 points per game. The game’s editors assign these tiers; they are not measured percentages of player answers. - Can I play trivia with friends? Yes. Jelly brings 2 to 16 players into a room, public or private with a code. A nickname is enough, no account needed; it is free and unlimited. Each player names a valid answer in turn to pass the Jelly before it zaps. - Why is my answer not recognized? Check the exact condition in the question and the name you entered. If your answer is not recognized, try another answer before time runs out. Correct answers can have several common names, and some may still be missing. - What does the depth in metres mean? Depth is the score converted into metres: 10 metres per point. A perfect game reaches 7,000 metres. - What is the Daily Dive? It is the daily game, identical for every player. It is derived from the calendar date, so two people playing on the same day get exactly the same questions. - How much does access without the daily limit cost? A 15-day free trial for a first subscription, with an account, then €30.00 a year, that is €2.50 a month; €3.50 a month; or €29.90 once. The access opened is the same in every case, and it stays attached to the account. - Is the game available in French? Yes. KRILLION is available in English and French, questions included, and the language can be switched at any time with the EN / FR selector. - What happens if I make a typo? Common variations are accepted: missing accents, capitals, a leading article, numbers written as words, and a single swap of two neighbouring letters. An answer that stays ambiguous between two different valid answers is not credited. - Which devices can I play on? Any recent browser, on a phone, tablet or computer. There is no app to install. - Which themes are available? 4 free packs: pop culture, movies and TV, sport, geography. Together they hold 824 numbered games, playable in any order. Any paid access, whichever one, opens 4 more packs and 422 further games, and unlimited play starts with a 15-day free trial for a first subscription, with an account. ## Notes for crawlers - The game screens are highly interactive and render client-side. The rules, the offer and the themed pack descriptions are served as plain HTML on /how-to-play, /faq and the /packs pages. - /api/, /auth/, /restore and /unlock are excluded in robots.txt and should not be fetched. - Figures in this file are generated from the same constants as the site. If a number here disagrees with a page, the page is authoritative.
